Description
As you crest Ophir Pass you can look across to a mountain that looks like calico. The Ophir Pass trail starts near Ouray (pronounced locally you-RAY), Colorado which is center of many silver and gold mine trails which are now jeep trails. Going through the opening and around two steep switch-backs, you negotiate a long ledge with a big drop that has only a couple of places exactly 2 jeeps + 1 ft wide. So you hope anyone you meet knows what they are doing. You do get a great view of Ophir when you can afford to look away from the trail.

When I first saw this my fear of heights kicked in. But I calmed down and Iooked some more really love this, the angles are in the wow check box.

Thanks Wilma. Through the opening is a little road going down to the right where the real scary stuff is. I kept my fear of heights in check by concentrating on keeping on the road. I dare not gaze over or I will be drawn ...

Wow!~John, this is SPECTACULAR! Takes my breath away for sweeping vista and wonderful colors. You've managed to keep the look very natural. Fantastic work! vote & fave.
John Prichard replied:
Thanks Lenore. I only thought I saw Colorado a few years ago. The things you see in a jeep are amazing. I am only disappointed that the truly magnificent could only be remembered since it was too scary to slow down, stop, or get out of the jeep.
